IKO Joint bearing

Spherical plain bearings are a type of bearing centred on a pair of inner and outer spherical sliding surfaces. They typically consist of an inner ring with an outer spherical surface and an outer ring with an inner spherical surface, and operate by direct spherical sliding.

● Exceptional load-carrying capacity

● Self-aligning capability

● Self-lubricating / low maintenance

● Compact design and easy installation

● Suitable for low-speed, high-frequency oscillation

Product Description

Spherical plain bearings are a type of bearing centred on an inner and outer spherical sliding pair. Their structure typically consists of an inner ring with an outer spherical surface and an outer ring with an inner spherical surface. Most do not contain rolling elements, relying instead on direct spherical sliding or a self-lubricating layer for operation. They can be classified by type into radial, angular contact, thrust and rod-end spherical plain bearings; lubrication methods include grease-lubricated and self-lubricating types. They offer high load-carrying capacity and impact resistance, and are characterised by corrosion resistance, wear resistance, self-aligning capability, and excellent lubrication or self-lubrication without contamination from lubricants.

Features and Advantages

● Exceptional Load-Carrying Capacity and Impact Resistance

The large spherical contact surface ensures even load distribution, enabling the bearing to withstand purely radial, purely axial or combined loads; suitable for heavy-duty and alternating impact conditions.

● Self-aligning capability

Allows for significant angular misalignment and misalignment compensation (typically ranging from a few degrees to several tens of degrees); installation errors and vibration-induced misalignment do not affect normal operation, preventing jamming.

● Self-lubricating / Low maintenance + Harsh environment resistance

Self-lubricating types require no frequent re-lubrication; PTFE/bronze linings ensure long-term stability in dusty, damp and oil-free environments; surface phosphating, chrome plating or zinc plating enhances corrosion resistance and wear resistance; low noise.

● Compact design, easy installation

Simpler in structure than rolling bearings, with a smaller footprint and lighter weight; rod-end types can be directly threaded, reducing overall design complexity.

● Suitable for low-speed, high-frequency oscillation

Particularly suitable for reciprocating oscillation and tilting, rather than high-speed continuous rotation; performs exceptionally well in robotic joints, automotive suspensions and aircraft control surfaces.

Product Applications

Widely used in steering linkages, boom joints, suspension systems for automotive and rail transport, industrial robotics and automation, metallurgical rolling mills, agricultural machinery, medical equipment, construction machinery and other industries.
